Leaders of the CIS states met in St. Petersburg

December 28, 2021 the Presidential Library in St. Petersburg hosted a traditional informal meeting of the leaders of the member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States.

This year the Commonwealth of Independent States celebrates its 30th anniversary.

The event was attended by President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev, First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev, President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

Anna Popova, Head of the Federal Service for Surveillance of Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing, Chief State Sanitary Doctor of the Russian Federation, spoke to the participants of the meeting. She spoke about further areas of work to combat coronavirus.

The previous time an informal meeting of the heads of the CIS states was held even before the pandemic - in December 2019. It also took place at the Presidential Library. Then the President of Russia told the participants of the meeting about the raised archival materials related to the prehistory of the Second World War, then invited them to see the specially organized exhibition 1939. The beginning of the Second World War.
