Intellectual gift to the residents of Kurgan Region to mark the Russian Press Day

The Yugov Kurgan Regional Universal Scientific Library and the Regional Center of the Presidential Library have prepared an intellectual gift for the residents of the region. Marking the Russian Press Day, which is celebrated on January 13, the Yugovka Electronic Library presents the first 1,000 issues of one of the main socio-political publications of Kurgan Region of the Soviet period - the newspaper Sovetskoye Zauralie. The archive of the periodical has been made available in digital format.

Library specialists laid the foundation for a large digital collection Sovetskoye Zauralye newspaper, which will include electronic copies of more than 10 thousand issues over the 35 years of the existence of this official organ of the party and Soviet structures of the region. Until now, interest in it has not faded not only among professional historians, local historians, researchers, but also among the general public. Representatives of various departments, organizations, mass media, veterans, students, schoolchildren who study various pages of the history of their native land constantly turn to this most valuable source of information. Each issue of the newspaper is a kind of "section" of the life of the Trans-Urals, it is a huge amount of factual material, the significance of which can hardly be overestimated.

The Presidential Library’s collections contain electronic versions of periodicals from Russian regions of various historical periods.

The collection Kurgan Region: Pages of History introduces materials and documents about Kurgan Region. It includes studies, statistical essays, archival documents, cartographic and photographic materials of the 19th - early 21st centuries that spotlight the administrative, socio-economic, geographical position of Kurgan and Shadrinsk districts, the territory of which forms the basis of the modern Kurgan Region. The current Charter (Basic Law) of Kurgan Region is also available.
