The Presidential Library is open to society

The Presidential Library is located in the historic center of St. Petersburg, not far from St. Isaac's Cathedral, the Admiralty and the Bronze Horseman and is actively developing as a tourist attraction. The building of the Holy Synod, where the library is located, is itself an architectural monument. Previously, the Russian State Historical Archive was located here, and the modern electronic library opened its doors to visitors in 2009.

Over the entire period of the existence of the Presidential Library, more than 95 thousand people attended it as part of the excursion program. Among them are students of schools in St. Petersburg and other regions of Russia, students and cadets of secondary specialized and higher educational institutions, people with disabilities, pensioners, veterans, residents and guests of St. Petersburg from various regions of Russia and foreign countries. Excursions in the building at Senate Square, 3 are also held for participants in the events of the Presidential Library, guests of honor, partners in various fields of activity and for individual visitors. The Presidential Library is also actively cooperating with the travel companies of the city.

During the tour, guests are introduced to the activities of the Presidential Library, which is the largest information, cultural, educational and scientific center that has no analogues in Russia and abroad. There is an electronic reading room, exhibition halls, a conference hall, multimedia and television complexes. The history and architectural features of the building built in the second quarter of the 19th century according to the project of the outstanding architect Carlo Rossi are unique. During a visit to the library, one has opportunity to see the restored historical interiors and learn about modern IT.

Excursions around the Presidential Library are held both overview and dedicated to thematic exhibitions and feature significant events, Russian statesmen and little-known facts from the history of our country. Traditionally, of particular interest is the Constitution hall which stores a copy of the inaugural copy of the Constitution, which all the presidents of the Russian Federation took the oath on.

Virtual tours both general and thematic as well as exhibitions held at the library before are of great attention due to restrictions avoiding the coronavirus infection. Today more than thirty virtual tours and excursions are available remotely. Please note that it is necessary to register for the tour in advance. Visiting the tour is free, the library can be visited not only on weekdays, but also on Saturday.

The nearest metro station is Admiralteyskaya. It takes about 15 minutes to walk to the library.

When visiting the library one must have a passport.

In accordance with the recommendations of the Federal Service for Surveillance of Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing, temperature control is carried out at the entrance to the library. Visitors must use personal protective equipment and maintain social distance.
