The Presidential Library told about the declassified chronicles of the Great Patriotic War in the second half of 1942

On June 21, 2022 the Presidential Library hosted the IV Scientific and Historical Conference "1942, July - December: the USSR Navy, the People's Commissariat of the Navy, N. G. Kuznetsov in the war at sea".

The theme of the conference covered the events of the Great Patriotic War from July to December 1942. There were delivered speeches on the specifics of the Northern Fleet’s combat activities to ensure external communications during this period, the military transport campaigns of submarines in the besieged Sevastopol, the military operations of the marines in the defence of Leningrad and Kronstadt, the actions of the Ladoga flotilla during the siege of the city and other important historical topics.

The event raised topical issues of preserving the memory of the war in the minds of young people - the future defenders of the Fatherland.

The event was the fourth within the framework of the research educational program “Let's Preserve the Truth About the War: A Chronicle of the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945 on the Sea". The previous, the third, conference was held at the Presidential Library on February 22, 2022.

The program “Let's Preserve the Truth About the War: A Chronicle of the War at Sea”, calculated until September 3, 2025 - the date of the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II, is based on the materials of the declassified military historical work “The Soviet Navy during the Great Patriotic War 1941-1945", created on the initiative of the People's Commissar of the Navy of the USSR during the war years, Admiral Nikolai Gerasimovich Kuznetsov.
