1 August 2022

The Russian Research Institute in Belgrade and the Serbian city of Bela Crkva signed an agreement on cooperation in the field of preserving the memory of the Russian emigration. The event has been held at the Russian House in Belgrade.

Violeta Simic, head of the municipality of Bela Crkva, noted that the agreement was of exceptional importance for the city. This year marks 102 years since the arrival in Bela Crkva of over 40,000 Russian emigrants who have made a significant cultural contribution to the development of the country.

The head of the Russian Scientific Institute in Belgrade, Irina Antanasievich, said that Bela Crkva was one of the two centers of Russian emigration in Yugoslavia. The city then housed the institute of noble maidens and the cadet corps. They became centers of culture, where the younger generation was brought up, which formed the image of the entire Russian emigration.

The Center of Remote Access to Information Resources of the Presidential Library opened in 2015 at the Representative Office of Rossotrudnichestvo in Belgrade today allows guests of the Russian House to learn about the whole variety of collections of the library's electronic collections.

Visitors to the Russian House will also be interested in the collection of books and archival documents Russia - Serbia: the History of Relations available on the Presidential Library’s portal. It spotlights the history of Serbia from ancient times and the relationship between Serbia and Russia in the military, economic and cultural areas.
