The issues of preserving historical memory considered at a web conference of the Chuvash Regional Center of the Presidential Library

The Regional Center of the Presidential Library based on the National Library of Chuvash Republic held a web conference on the labor prowess of the cities of Volga Region.

The event, which was held in a face-to-face format, was attended by specialists from regional centers of access to information resources of the Presidential Library from cities awarded the honorary title "City of Labor Valor". Among them are employees of the Akhmet-Zaki Validi National Library of Republic of Bashkortostan, the Palace of Books - the Lenin Ulyanovsk Regional Scientific Library, the Feodorov State Scientific Library of Kuzbass, the State Historical Archive of Chuvash Republic, the municipal budgetary institution of culture "Association of Libraries of the City of Cheboksary”, public organizations of the Cheboksary Electrical Apparatus Plant.

The participants discussed the formats of the work of libraries, museums, industrial enterprises, public organizations, research institutions in the field of preserving the memory of the labor feat of the people during the Great Patriotic War. The priority areas were the creation and updating of electronic documentary collections, thematic web resources, educational materials; organization of excursions, intellectual games, online events; production of visual content; implementation of educational projects.

As part of the web conference, the significant contribution of the residents of Ufa, Ulyanovsk, Kemerovo, Novokuzetsk, Cheboksary to achieving victory in the Great Patriotic War was noted. During the years of testing, they showed truly labor heroism and dedication, ensuring the uninterrupted production of military and civilian products at industrial enterprises.

A fragment of the documentary film "Cheboksary - City of Labor Valor" (directed by Artyom Chubukov) was also shown. It was created to perpetuate the heroic past of the city by the Chuvash branch of the all-Russian public movement "Volunteers of Victory" with the support of the Presidential Foundation for Cultural Initiatives, the Administration of the city of Cheboksary, the National Library of Chuvash Republic.

The event made it possible to determine the future plans of libraries for the preservation of historical memory, expand the circle of partners and electronic collections. One of them is the collection of the Presidential Library Memory of the Great Victory. It includes official documents, newsreels, wartime newspapers, collections of articles, testimonies of participants in combat battles and home front workers, images of military and labor awards and much more.
