Students of the Penza College learned about the Patriotic War of 1812
Specialists of the Penza Regional Centre of the Presidential Library based on the Lermontov Penza Regional Library have held a practice-oriented event for the students of the Penza College of Architecture and Engineering, marking the 210th anniversary of the Patriotic War of 1812.
Students learned about the mark that was left in the country’s history by the events of those years. Vivid episodes of war have inspired many Russian writers, painters and composers. The events of 1812 are captured in numerous monuments and works of Russian art. Specialists of the Regional Centre have also shown slides with reproductions of paintings to the students.
Participants of the meeting have explored the collection Patriotic War of 1812 on the Presidential Library’s portal. The collection features over 800 depositary items. It includes studies, official and archival documents, maps, visual and multimedia materials from the Presidential Library’s electronic holdings, as well as digital copies of portraits of the heroes of the war of 1812 provided by the State Hermitage.
Within the framework of the event, students have also mastered the principle of working with the Presidential Library’s electronic collections. In order to consolidate the acquired skills, specialists of the Regional Centre have given students a practical task – to find the book The Centenary of the Patriotic War of 1812 by Vladimir Nazarevsky (1911) and answer a number of questions.
The Presidential Library’s portal also features the collection Penza Region: Pages of History. It includes archival documents, essays, studies and statistical materials that reveal various aspects of the region’s development in the XVIII-XX centuries.
