Intellectual tournament for high schoolers took place in Penza

Specialists of the Penza Regional Centre of the Presidential Library based on the Lermontov Penza Regional Library have organized the intellectual tournament “On your marks, clever boys and girls” for the high school students of the “SAN” Gymnasium, School № 63 and the Gymnasium № 13.

Students solved test tasks on the knowledge of historical facts and biographies of remarkable state figures, answered questions about culture, solved a crossword on social studies. The program also featured the screening of a fragment from a silent film based on a famous literary work.

One of the competition’s tasks was associated with searching information on the Presidential Library’s portal. Students had to quickly master the navigation of the website and find answers to a number of questions in one of the digitized publications, featured on the portal.

According to the results of the tournament, the first place was shared by the pupils of the Gymnasium № 13 and the School № 63. The “SAN” Gymnasium’s team got a rematch in the quiz “Peter I: identity and reforms”.

The Presidential Library annually hosts the Olympiad “Russia in the Electronic World” in history, social studies and Russian language. The main goal of the competition is to introduce students to working with archival information sources on the history, theory and practice of Russian statehood, as the Presidential Library’s electronic collections contain over a million of digitized copies of rare documents which present the cultural heritage of the country. The registration of participants of the Olympiad will be open on September 21, 2022 on the official website of the interactive educational project.

In the finale of the intellectual tournament, many young students also expressed their wish to take part in the Olympiad “Russia in the Electronic World”.

The Presidential Library’s portal features the collection Penza Region: Pages of History. It includes archival documents, essays, studies and statistical materials that reveal various aspects of the region’s development in the XVIII-XX centuries.
