Penza schoolchildren learned about children who studied in the old days

The Regional Center of the Presidential Library based on the Lermontov Penza Regional Library held a practical lesson for students of school No. 67. The event spotlighted the history of the development of Russian education.

The children were told about the forms of upbringing and education in Russia. The event also included practical tasks for ingenuity. Schoolchildren solved arithmetic problems and guessed the meaning of ancient words.

As part of the practical lesson, students were also shown rare textbooks from the Presidential Library’s collections. Schoolchildren were particularly interested in the illustrated edition of Karion Istomin's Primer (1717), available on the institution's portal.

The Presidential Library’s portal features the collection Penza Region: Pages of History. It includes archival documents, essays, studies, statistical and other materials covering various aspects of the development of the region in different historical periods.
