Marking the National Unity Day. The Presidential Library’s video lecture dedicated to the history of the Time of Troubles

On November 1, 2022, the Presidential Library hosted a video lecture entitled The Time of Troubles. Problems of Source Studies and Historiography. The event was timed to the National Unity Day.

Specialists from leading scientific and educational institutions attended the video lecture.

Thus, Doctor of Historical Sciences, senior researcher at the St. Petersburg Institute of History of the Russian Academy of Sciences Andrey Pavlov told about the historiography of the Time of Troubles in the pre-revolutionary and Soviet periods.

Professor of the HSE University Adrian Selin devoted his lecture to modern approaches to the historiography of the Time of Troubles.

Varvara Vovina, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Leading Research Fellow of the St. Petersburg Institute of History of the Russian Academy of Sciences, focused on the origin and manuscript tradition of one of the most important monuments of Russian literature of the 17th century, the New Chronicler, a historical source of the Time of Troubles.

Natalia Eilbart - Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor of the Department of Russian History from Ancient Times to the Beginning of the XΙX century of the Herzen State Pedagogical University of Russia - shared her experience of historical reconstruction and told about the image of Marina Mnishek in works of art. In particular, the address was devoted to the historical novel by Natalia Eilbart Chronicles of the Time of Troubles. Andrey Kuznetsov, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor of the Department of Culture and Entrepreneurship Psychology of the Institute of Economics and Entrepreneurship of the Lobachevsky Nizhny Novgorod State University devoted his speech to the significance of Kuzma Minin's feat.
