Congress of Public Chambers of Peter’s cities held in Yekaterinburg

On November 18, 2022, representatives of the Sverdlovsk Regional Center of the Presidential Library based on the Belinsky Sverdlovsk Regional Universal Scientific Library attended the Congress of Public Chambers of Peter’s cities. The event was dedicated to the 350th anniversary of Peter the Great.

The congress participants were representatives of Public Chambers of Kaliningrad, Omsk, Kamensk-Uralsky, as well as the Voronezh and Arkhangelsk Regions. Issues of preserving the historical heritage of Peter the Great were touched upon.

At the event, employees of the Regional Center of the Presidential Library reviewed the collection Peter I (1672-1725), available on the institution’s portal. It includes more than 600 depository items of archival materials - documentary prose of the 18th-19th centuries, works by the first biographers of Peter I, collections of anecdotes and legends about him, collections of decrees and letters of the emperor. The congress participants were also told about the video film Teachers of Peter I. In addition, an engraving of 1717 The Apotheosis of Peter's Military Glory was demonstrated.

Representatives of the Regional Center of the Presidential Library also attended the presentation of the exhibition of the Department of Rare Books of the Belinsky Sverdlovsk Regional Universal Scientific Library "Russia Reared Up".

The Presidential Library’s portal features the collection Sverdlovsk Region: Pages of History. It includes statistical materials, studies, essays and photographs of the 19th - early 20th centuries that spotlight various aspects of the development of the region.
