A schoolboy from Kursk Region became a laureate of the All-Russian essay contest "My Peter I"

The Aseev Kursk Regional Universal Scientific Library hosted the awarding of the laureate of the All-Russian essay contest “My Peter I”. It was Roman Mikhailov, a pupil of the 9th grade of the Hero of the Soviet Union S. V. Achkasov secondary school № 23.

The meeting participants were greeted by director of the Aseev Kursk Regional Universal Scientific Library Natalia Shishkova. The laureate and his teacher, Nadezhda Mironova, a teacher of Russian language and literature, were also congratulated by the chairman of the board of the World Club of Petersburgers Natalia Sidorkevich.

The contest of school essays "My Peter I" is a joint project of the Presidential Library, the Kostyor All-Russian literary and artistic magazine for schoolchildren and the World Club of Petersburgers.

The contest was held from January 1 to November 15, 2022 marking the 350th anniversary of the birth of the first Russian emperor. The main condition for participation in the contest was the preparation of creative works based on materials about Peter the Great from the electronic collection of the Presidential Library. The contest among the participants of the tournament was quite high - about 1000 essays from schoolchildren and students of secondary educational institutions were submitted to the contest.

The Presidential Library’s portal features the collection Kursk Region: Pages of History. It includes research, archival documents, statistical, cartographic and other materials that spotlight various aspects of the development of the region in different historical periods.
