The Presidential Library’s video lectures spotlighted the historical memory of the iconic battles of the Great Patriotic War
On February 3, 2023 the Presidential Library hosted a video lecture entitled “The Memory of the Great Patriotic War is Sacred” dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the end of the Battles of Stalingrad and Kursk as part of the Knowledge of Russia project. At the video lecture, specialists of the museum-reserves "Battle of Stalingrad" and "Prokhorovskoe Pole" told about their experience in preserving the memory of the battles that became a turning point in the Great Patriotic War.
The Museum-Reserve "Battle of Stalingrad" keeps the richest material about the battle on the Volga in 1942-1943. Along with the collection of written sources, the scientific archive and the military history library are significant information resources of the museum and are in demand by researchers of the Battle of Stalingrad.
Head of the Department of Scientific and Historical Documentation and Library Foundations of the State Historical and Memorial Museum-Reserve "The Battle of Stalingrad" Elena Chelysheva told event participants about the organization of activities and the specifics of the archive and library department of the Museum-Reserve.
The lecture by Larisa Polygalova, senior researcher at the “Prokhorovskoye Pole” Museum-Reserve, was devoted to the activities of the institution for the preservation and formation of the historical memory of the Battle of Kursk and the Great Patriotic War, which is the most important political, moral and cultural task of the state.
The Presidential Library’s electronic collections provide rare historical materials that tell about the details of the key battles of the Great Patriotic War.
