Historical reconstruction of the Nuremberg Trials took place at the Presidential Library

On February 9, 2023 at the Presidential Library, students of the St. Petersburg Law Institute (branch) of the University of the Prosecutor’s Office of Russia together with the specialists of the Prosecutor’s Office of Leningrad Region presented a reconstruction performance Trials of the Nazis and Their Accomplices in Nuremberg.

During the reconstruction, the key episodes of the legendary trial were highlighted, the atrocities of the “brown plague”, the cruelty of the main ideological inspirers and leaders of violent campaigns and bloody outrages, as well of their accomplices, were presented, and the high professionalism and dedication of state prosecutors on behalf of the Soviet Union were demonstrated.

Speaking to the participants of the event, Prosecutor of Leningrad Region Sergei Zhukovsky said: “I am sure that the reconstruction of the trial of justice and truth will leave a mark in your hearts. It is impossible to restrain emotions at the thought of what people have experienced, how our world has suffered! Still, we persevered. We survived precisely because of their strength and loyalty to the Motherland”.

According to Governor of Leningrad Region Alexander Drozdenko, the reconstruction performance is filled with a special meaning: “In October, a trial took place in which the Prosecutor’s Office of Leningrad Region presented indisputable facts of genocide against residents of Leningrad Region during the Great Patriotic War. These facts have no statute of limitations. We must not be silent about the crimes of Nazism. We need to talk about this, no matter how terrible the truth is”.

In turn, Director General of the Presidential Library Yuri Nosov noted the importance of hosting the performance, dedicated to the events of the Great Patriotic War, with the participation of the Prosecutor’s Office of Leningrad Region and students at the library.

The event was also attended by Vice-Governor of St. Petersburg – Head of the Administration of the Governor of St. Petersburg Valery Pikalev, Deputy Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation Alexander Klaus, Chairman of the Arbitration Court of the North-Western District Sergei Markin, Chairman of the Leningrad Regional Court Gennady Perfilyev, Prosecutor of the City of St. Petersburg Viktor Melnik, Military Prosecutor of the Western Military District Sergei Zaryayev, and other honored guests.
