The Birobidzhan Regional Center of the Presidential Library prepared an hour of history to mark the anniversary of the Battle of Volochayevka

On February 4, 2023 specialists of the Birobidzhan Regional Center of the Presidential Library based on the Sholom Aleichem Birobidzhan Regional Universal Scientific Library together with specialists from the Regional Museum of Local Lore of Jewish Autonomous Region held an hour of history "Volochayev Days". The event was attended by pupils of the Cossack class at the Church of St. Nicholas in the city of Birobidzhan.

The Battle of Volochayevka became a symbol of the end of the Civil War in Russia and the final elimination of foreign intervention in the Far East.

Specialists of the Regional Museum of Local Lore of Jewish Autonomous Region told the children about this dramatic period in the history of the country, its participants and partisan detachments, and also showed a video film about the Civil War in Russia.

The event continued in the electronic reading room of the library, where schoolchildren took part in an interactive quiz game. The guys also made a virtual tour of the Volochaevskaya Sopka, where the battle took place.

The collection 1918 is available on the Presidential Library’s portal. It includes laws and regulations of the period of the Civil War, office documents of state institutions and public organizations, studies, reference books, eyewitness memories of those events, audiovisual and other materials.
