Methods of teaching the Russian language discussed at the forum in Syria

On February 13, 2023 the Russian House in Damascus hosted the international forum "The latest methods of teaching the Russian language in the general education system of the Syrian Arab Republic". The event was organized by the Moscow State Pedagogical University with the support of the Christian World Union.

Russian and Syrian experts exchanged experience, discussed the strengthening of scientific cooperation, cultural and social ties between the two countries. A presentation of a new textbook of the Russian language, created jointly by the Moscow State Pedagogical University and the Syrian Ministry of Education, was held at the meeting. In addition, 48 teachers who underwent retraining at Moscow State Pedagogical University last year received diplomas of a second higher education.

Head of the Russian House in Damascus Nikolai Sukhov, Syrian Minister of Education Durem Tabbaa and President of the Christian World Union Alexei Cherkezov spoke at the opening of the forum. Acting Director of the Department of International Cooperation and Public Relations of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation Usman Rassukhanov and Rector of Moscow State Pedagogical University Alexei Lubkov addressed the participants via video link.

The remote access center to information resources of the Presidential Library opened in 2022 at the representative office of Rossotrudnichestvo in Damascus, today allows guests of the Russian House to learn about the whole variety of collections of the library's electronic holdings.

Visitors to the Russian House have an opportunity to learn about the collection Russian Language from the institution's electronic collections. It includes more than 1,100 depository items of rare archival documents, including manuscripts, monuments of Russian literature, archives, research papers, dictionaries, reference books, teaching aids and much more.

A large number of materials on Russian-Syrian relations are available in the electronic collection of the Presidential Library Russia - Syria: the History of Relations. It includes scientific research, reference, archival and other materials reflecting the history of relations between Russia and Syria from the 19th century to the present day.
