The historical tournament "Along the River of Time" held in Penza

On March 10, 2023 the Lermontov Penza Regional Library hosted the historical tournament "Along the River of Time" which was attended by three teams from the Lyceum of Modern Management Technologies № 2.

The event consisted of seven rounds. The topics of the assignments spotlighted little-known facts from the biographies of statesmen of different eras, picturesque historical canvases, archaisms. It was also necessary to solve a thematic crossword puzzle, so the participants of the tournament needed knowledge that went beyond the scope of school textbooks. At the same time, the guys learned a lot of new things - for example, thanks to the musical round, they learned that the waltz "On the Hills of Manchuria" is dedicated to the fallen soldiers of the 214th reserve Moksha Infantry Regiment in the Russo-Japanese War.

Young connoisseurs figured out how to search for factual information in sources on the Presidential Library’s portal. The tournament winners were awarded a diploma and a certificate for free admission to the next quiz from the regional center of the Presidential Library.

The Presidential Library’s portal features the collection Penza Region: Pages of History. It includes archives, essays, studies and statistical materials covering various aspects of the history of the region at the end of the 18th - the first third of the 20th century: demographic, geographical, socio-economic, socio-political and others.
