The Presidential Library develops cooperation with Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan

The Presidential Library pays much attention to strengthening friendly relations with cultural institutions from the CIS countries.

On March 17, 2023 a video meeting was attended by specialists from the Presidential Library of the Administrative Directorate of the President of the Russian Federation, the Presidential Library of the Administration of the President of Republic of Azerbaijan and the Russian House in Baku, based on which a remote access center to electronic resources of the Presidential libraries has been opened since January 2011.

The event participants were told about electronic documents and materials from the collections of the Presidential Library on the history of Azerbaijan, presented the collection Russia-Azerbaijan: the History of Relations. Thanks to archival materials, one can learn about the history of Azerbaijan starting from the 19th century: the administrative structure after the entry of Azerbaijani lands into the Russian Empire; the development of the region during the 19th-early 20th centuries; history of Soviet Azerbaijan; as well as on state, economic and cultural relations between the Russian Federation and Republic of Azerbaijan.

The video meeting listeners expressed their interest in joint projects dedicated to the history and culture of our countries.

The next day, March 18, specialists from the Presidential Library attended the Annual Forum of the Kazakhstan Pedagogical Club. The club was created on the initiative of the Russian Center for Science and Culture (Russian House) in Astana in the spring of 2020 and brings together innovative teachers from all over the Republic. The meeting in Astana at the Russian House, where the Presidential Library's remote access center has been opened for almost 10 years, was attended by forum participants from all regions of Kazakhstan. Specialists of the Presidential Library told what materials on the history and culture of Kazakhstan are available in the Presidential Library. On the institution’s portal the collection Russia-Kazakhstan: the History of Relations contains studies, essays, archival documents, photographs and newsreels that spotlight the geography, ethnography, economy, cultural development of one of the largest Asian states in the 15th - early 21st centuries. The documents presented in the collection are accessible from anywhere in the world.

The event participants showed a keen interest in the activities of the Presidential Library, especially in its resources and collections dedicated to the history of the Great Patriotic War, and the participation of Kazakhstan in it.

In December 2022, the Presidential Library signed a protocol of intent to create an Association of Presidential Libraries. Such an organization is being created for the first time and will have an international status. The document was signed by Director General of the Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library of the Administrative Directorate of the President of the Russian Federation Yury Nosov and Director of the Library of the First President of Republic of Kazakhstan Temirbolat Bakytzhan Berikbayuly.

The decision to establish the Association was reached between the Presidential Libraries of four countries: Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia. As part of the work of the Association, it is planned to hold joint events - round tables, conferences, meetings. One of the important goals is to provide wide access to world cultural values.

The Association will promote the exchange of experience in the field of information and analytical support for public authorities, the exchange of resources on issues of history, law, economics, politics, cultural interaction, the introduction of advanced achievements and new technologies.
