The Presidential Library and the St. Petersburg State Institute of Culture strengthen cooperation

A new cooperation agreement between the Presidential Library and the St. Petersburg State Institute of Culture was signed on March 23, 2023 within the framework of the XVIII All-Russian scientific and practical conference with international participation "Continuing library and information education". The document was signed by Director General of the Presidential Library Yuri Nosov and Rector of the Institute Alexander Turgaev.

One of the key activities of the Presidential Library is interaction with universities. According to Yuri Nosov, today about 200 Russian universities are partners of the institution. Among them, a special place is occupied by the St. Petersburg State Institute of Culture. This university can rightfully be called a long-term and reliable partner of the Presidential Library. According to the library’s Director General Yuri Nosov, “the organizations have been cooperating for more than 10 years. During this time, a lot has been done in the field of developing cultural ties”.

University students do practice in the library, gain experience and skills in the formation of an electronic library and excursion activities. Joint educational events and concerts are held. Documents transferred from the Institute of Culture are converted into digital format and become available in the Presidential Library. The portal features a collection dedicated to the history of the St. Petersburg State Institute of Culture.

Time marches on. There have been various changes: the Strategy for the Development of Library Science in Russia, the Strategy for the Development of the Presidential Library, and a professional standard for library and information activities have been introduced.

In this regard, a new cooperation agreement was signed between the Presidential Library and the Institute of Culture, within the framework of which joint scientific, historical and educational events will be held to promote reliable information on the history of Russia. The agreement also provides for the implementation of projects aimed at the spiritual, moral and patriotic education of young people. Special attention will be paid to the selection of qualified personnel with specialized education for the Presidential Library.
