The sculptor's voice is in his creations. The Presidential Library to show a film about Jan Neiman
On March 29, 2023 at 15:00 the Presidential Library will host a screening of the documentary “Famous SHShatiki. Jan Neiman. Petersburg Sculptor”.
Jan Neiman (1946–2017), a recognized master of the academic St. Petersburg school of sculpture, an honorary member of the Russian Academy of Arts, is known primarily for his monumental works. More than 30 of his works adorn St. Petersburg - among them are the famous monuments to Georgy Zhukov, Ivan Turgenev, Alexei Brusilov, sailors of the polar convoys of 1941-1945, heroes-sailors of the Baltic Shipping Company.
However, Neiman was an artist of versatile talent, and in his creative biography, monuments and small plastic arts, easel and architectural and decorative compositions, memorial plaques, as well as a large number of graphic sheets and drawings coexist.
The life of one of the best sculptors of St. Petersburg in recent decades stopped suddenly. The film “Famous SHShatiki. Jan Neiman. Petersburg Sculptor”, created by the filmmakers of the creative association “Documentary Video”, is an attempt to hear the voice of the master in his creations.
The filmmakers such as project manager Elena Smirnova and director Igor Smirnov will attend the event.
Olga Krivdina, Professor of the Ilya Repin St. Petersburg Academy of Fine Arts, Leading Researcher of the Sculpture Department of the State Russian Museum; Alexander Krylov, artist, head of the workshop of church historical painting, full member of the Russian Academy of Arts; Gennady Chelbogashev, Professor of the International Academy of Architecture (Moscow); Andrei Bliok, People's Artist of Russia, full member of the Russian Academy of Arts, professor at the Ilya Repin St. Petersburg Academy of Fine Arts will attend the cinema club meeting.
