Peter’s I reforms recalled at the Sverdlovsk Regional Center of the Presidential Library

On April 19, 2023 the Regional Center of the Presidential Library based on the Belinsky Sverdlovsk Regional Universal Scientific Library hosted another lecture from the series on the history of Russia "Historical Environment". This time the theme of the event was devoted to the reforms of Peter I.

The lecture "Great Peter - Great Reforms" was held by Alexander Kapustin, Candidate of Historical Sciences. In his speech, he spoke about the causes of Peter's reforms and the consequences of these transformations. It was also about the changes that have taken place in the economy, management and military sphere under the All-Russian Emperor.

The electronic collections of the Presidential Library contain a large number of documents on the personality and activities of the reformer tsar. Thus, the collection Peter I (1672-1725) includes over 600 depository items. It includes documentary prose of the 18th-19th centuries, works by the first biographers of Peter I, collections of anecdotes and legends about him, collections of decrees and letters from the emperor. The collection includes publications such as The History of Regional Administration in Russia from Peter I to Catherine II (1913), Talks on the Military Laws of Peter I the Great (1890), Acts of Peter the Great, the Wise Transformer of Russia (1788) and others.

The Presidential Library’s portal features the collection Sverdlovsk Region: Pages of History. It includes statistical materials, studies, essays and photographs of the 19th - early 20th centuries that spotlight various aspects of the development of the region.
