Azerbaijan hosts Republican Olympiad in Russian language

Azerbaijan is hosting the second stage of the Republican Olympiad in Russian language. The event marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of Heydar Aliyev. On April 26, pupils of grades 7-9 of the comprehensive school № 3 of the city of Zagatala became participants in the Olympiad "Mother Tongue is a Mirror of the Soul".

The event is held by the Russian House in Baku, the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Republic of Azerbaijan, the Ministry of Science and Education of Republic of Azerbaijan, the Association of Teachers of Russian-speaking Educational Institutions of Azerbaijan with the support of the Azerbaijan University of Languages and VTB Bank (Azerbaijan).

The Olympiad participants were greeted by the head of the Russian House in Baku Irek Zinnurov, the methodologist of the Russian language of the education sector of the city of Zagatala Irada Gaziyeva, the deputy director for educational work of the secondary school № 3 of the city of Zagatala Tarana Djumayeva, the chairman of the Association of Teachers of Russian-speaking educational institutions of Azerbaijan Lyubov Yakunina.

As part of the event the school was also donated fiction and methodological literature.

The remote access center to information resources of the Presidential Library opened in 2011 at the representative office of Rossotrudnichestvo in Baku, today allows guests of the Russian House to learn about the whole variety of collections of the library's electronic holdings.

Visitors to the Russian House will learn about the collection Russian Language from the institution's electronic holdings. It includes more than 1,100 depository items of rare archival documents, including manuscripts, monuments of Russian literature, archives, research papers, dictionaries, reference books, teaching aids and much more.

Guests of the Russian House have an opportunity to learn about the materials on the history of relations between Azerbaijan and Russia which are available in the electronic collection of the Presidential Library Russia - Azerbaijan: The History of Relations.
