Gala concert in honor of Victory Day held at the Presidential Library

On May 10 the Presidential Library hosted the world premiere of the cantata The whole globe under your feet marking Victory Day.

The organizer of the event is the Palaces of St. Petersburg Festival Foundation.

The premiere performance of the cantata by the St. Petersburg composer, winner of numerous contests, nominee for the Golden Mask award Viktor Sobolev The whole globe under your feet to the words of the famous front-line poet Stepan Shchipachev is a great event in the cultural life of the country. Basically, musical works performed on the occasion of Victory Day were created during the Soviet period. A composition timed to coincide with the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory was performed at the Presidential Library. The cantata involves various performers such as a reciter, an orchestra, soloists, a choir as well as instrumental ensembles.   

The poems were performed by artist of theatre and cinema Alexey Falileev.

The arias were performed by the famous soloists of the Mariinsky Theatre, the magnificent mezzo-soprano Anna Kiknadze and the laureate of international awards, baritone Viktor Korotich.

Another surprise for the guests of the music event was the performance of the choir of the Sretensky Monastery which is one of the most famous in Russia. The songs of the war years were powerfully and soulfully performed by the oldest singing group, whose history goes back six hundred years.

The State Symphony Orchestra of Leningrad Region (conductor Mikhail Golikov), the concert choir of the St. Petersburg State Institute of Culture led by the winner of the St. Petersburg Government Prize, Professor Sergei Yekimov and an ensemble of students from the Department of Russian Folk Instruments of the N. A. Rimsky-Korsakov State Conservatory also attended the event.
