Exhibition of photographs of old Baku opened in Azerbaijan
A photo exhibition of the Russian Geographical Society "Old Baku through the lens of the Russian Geographical Society: the first photographs of the city" has been opened at the Heydar Aliyev Center.
The exposition features works made in the middle of the 19th century by Alexander Ulsky, who was a member of the Caspian hydrographic expedition led by Nikolai Ivashintsov.
“These are unique photographs of old Baku, thanks to which one can “jump back” into the past and see what the Azerbaijani capital looked like more than 100 years ago”, - says Ilya Gurov, First Deputy Executive Director of the Russian Geographical Society.
The event is held within the framework of the Days of Moscow in Baku, which are organized by the Government of Moscow with the support of the Baku City Executive Power, the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Republic of Azerbaijan, the Russian House in Baku and the Ministry of Culture of Azerbaijan.
