The Presidential Library’s portal broadcasts films and video lectures prepared by the library as well as video films by leading domestic film and TV studios. Their display is timed to memorable and significant dates as well as major events in the Presidential Library. Here are the most striking film screenings of the second half of May.

The video lecture About the War and Victory through the Language of a Book, timed to coincide with the 113th anniversary of the birth of Olga Bergholz, is based on the works of the poetess, who was called the “voice of the Leningrad radio” and the authors of The Blockade Book, Daniil Granin and Ales Adamovich. So, through poems and a documentary chronicle of the siege, the chief librarian of the department of manuscripts of the National Library of Russia, Natalya Rogova, will tell about the war and victory.

In turn, the chronicle and documentary film The Blockade, directed by Sergei Loznitsa, is based on archival materials from the film foundation of the St. Petersburg Documentary Film Studio, as well as fragments from the films Leningrad in the Struggle, 900 Unforgettable Days, The Feat of Leningrad, The Verdict of the People.

Thanks to the broadcast on the Presidential Library’s portal, it is now possible, without leaving home, to visit Novgorod Region on May 18, International Museum Day, and visit the Museum-Estate of Alexander Vasilyevich Suvorov in the village of Konchanskoye - the only possession of the great commander that has survived today. The documentary made by the Novgorod Regional Television tells about the life of the Generalissimo and the history of the memorial house-museum, opened in the war in 1942.

On May 27, the All-Russian Day of Libraries and the birthday of the Presidential Library, the video film Senatskaya, 3 is timed to coincide with the creation of the Presidential Library - one of the three national libraries of the Russian Federation. The documentary film Library Front 1941 - 1945, created by the Presidential Library in conjunction with the Library Assembly of Eurasia, tells about the contribution of the libraries of the USSR to the victory over fascism. The film shows the activities of the republican libraries (currently - the national libraries of the CIS countries) in the period from 1941 to 1945 in the occupied territories, on the front line and in the rear. The documentary is based on diaries, letters, telegrams, memoirs of eyewitnesses and participants who worked in libraries in 1941-1945.

The screening of the film Petersburg - Russian Through the Looking-Glass on the 365 Days TV channel is timed to the 320th anniversary of the foundation of St. Petersburg. This film is included in the cycle of documentary programs Russia through the Eyes of Foreigners, thanks to which viewers can look at themselves, at the history of their city or region from the outside, agree or refute the impressions of "foreigners".

The video recording Bridges of St. Petersburg: Past, Present, Future introduces the users of the Presidential Library’s portal to the recognized symbols of the city on the Neva - drawbridges of St. Petersburg. The video lecture is about the stages of development of bridge building, failed projects and modern bridges of the city.
