The ceremony of signing agreements on the interaction of the Presidential Library subordinate to the Administrative Directorate of the President of the Russian Federation with the Krupskaya Donetsk Republican Universal Scientific Library and the Gorky Lugansk Republican Universal Scientific Library was held on May 24, 2023. The event, which took place in St. Petersburg, in the Presidential Library, was attended by the head of the Information and Communication Technologies Department of the Administrative Directorate of the President of the Russian Federation Sergei Grinevich, the chairman of the Committee for Culture of St. Petersburg Fyodor Boltin and other guests of honor.
The documents were signed by Director General of the Presidential Library Yuri Nosov, Acting Director General of the Donetsk Republican Universal Scientific Library Marina Morozova and Director of the Lugansk Republican Universal Scientific Library Natalya Rastorguyeva. One of the main goals of the agreements is to strengthen in the public mind, and above all among young people, the ideas of statehood, citizenship and patriotism based on the national self-identification of Russians.
Head of the Department of Information and Communication Technologies of the Administrative Directorate of the President of the Russian Federation Sergei Grinevich in his welcoming speech said that the head of state Vladimir Putin set the task of integrating the new subjects of Russia into the scientific, educational and cultural environment, and promoting free information exchange. These goals will be facilitated by the cooperation of the Presidential Library with the Donetsk and Lugansk Republican Libraries, aimed at creating a single information space in the field of national and world culture, science and education, including the history, theory and practice of Russian statehood and the Russian language.
Despite the difficult conditions associated with the events taking place in the Donbass, libraries continue to work actively: serve readers, hold various events (often online due to incessant shelling), and improve the skills of their specialists.
The interaction of the specialists of the Presidential Library with representatives of the republican libraries of Donetsk and Lugansk began during the Integration Forum of the Presidential Library in Kemerovo in October 2022, shortly after the entry into Russia of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics, Zaporozhye and Kherson Regions.
According to Director General of the Presidential Library Yuri Nosov, the signing of agreements with the republican libraries of Donetsk and Lugansk marks a new stage in the joint activities of institutions in many areas, including providing users of the Donetsk and Lugansk libraries with access to the Presidential Library's collections. Remote electronic reading rooms of the Presidential Library will be opened in Donetsk and Lugansk. The agreements will implement joint educational projects in the field of history, the Russian language, national culture, science and education; organization of conferences and workshops; formation of thematic digital content.
Special attention will be paid to the training of specialists from the Donetsk and Lugansk Republican Universal Scientific Libraries in the field of processing information resources and servicing users of the electronic reading room of the Presidential Library.
In fact, the agreements have already begun to operate as yesterday the heads of the Donetsk and Lugansk Republican Libraries joined the work of the scientific and practical conference of the Presidential Library which addressed issues of promoting the national cultural heritage in the electronic environment.
At the end of the signing ceremony of the Cooperation Agreements the heads of the Donetsk and Lugansk Republican Universal Scientific Libraries were presented with the Presidential Library’s readers’ tickets.
