Winners of the regional local history Olympiad “MOI KRAI” awarded in Kurgan

The Kurgan Regional Centre of the Presidential Library summed up the results of the local history Olympiad MOI KRAI (My Land). The ceremony of awarding the winners and prize-winners was held at the Yugov Kurgan Regional Universal Scientific Library.

The intellectual competition was held in the Trans-Urals for the second time. This year, it was dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Kurgan Region. Schoolchildren of grades 8-11 and students of secondary specialized educational institutions took part in the Olympiad.

During the competition, the children tested their knowledge of the history of the region, and answered questions about significant events and prominent figures. In addition, the participants were able to show their creative skills by writing an essay. The materials of the Presidential Library and the Yugov Kurgan Regional Universal Scientific Library helped schoolchildren solve the tasks of the Olympiad.

The head of the Kurgan Regional Centre of the Presidential Library Rimma Nasyrova opened the award ceremony. The event was also attended by Denis Maslyuzhenko, Director of the Humanitarian Institute of Kurgan State University, Chairman of the regional branch of the Russian Historical Society, and Maria Kolchedantseva, Deputy Director of the Yugov Kurgan Regional Universal Scientific Library.

Anastasia Bazhenova, a student of Kurgan Basic Medical College, became the winner of the first stage of the Olympiad, in which more than 500 people took part. The second place was shared by Valeria Kolistratova (Kurgan Regional Boarding School for Gifted Children), Anna Moskalyova (Kurgan Technical School of Service and Technology) and Dmitry Karchkov (Kurgan Gymnasium No. 30). Diplomas of the third degree were awarded to Egor Sazhaev (Shadrinsk Secondary School No. 10) and Kristina Getmanova (Sumkinskaya Secondary School of Polovinsky Municipal District).

The winners of the second stage, in which 178 children took part, were Anna Moskalyova, a student of the Kurgan Technical School of Service and Technology, and Yulia Apalikhina, a student of the Mishkin Vocational Pedagogical College. The second place was shared by Ekaterina Kruglyakova (Vargashinskaya School No. 1), Kristina Getmanova (Sumkinskaya Secondary School of Polovinsky Municipal District) and Arina Marshalkina (Sumkinskaya Secondary School of Polovinsky Municipal District). The third place was won by Nikita Khudyakov, a student of Shumikha Secondary School No. 1.

Albert Pospelov (Baydarskaya Secondary School of Polovinsky District) became the leader of the third round as a result of the analysis of the competitive works of the third and final stage of the Olympiad, which included 27 essays on the topic Kurgan Region in the History of Russia. The second place was taken by Sofya Suslova (Shchuchye Secondary School No. 1). The third place was shared by Arina Bayda (Bashkir Secondary School of Polovinsky District) and Elizaveta Osipova (Shchuchye Secondary School No. 1). In addition, the work of Victoria Rusakova (Kanashskaya Secondary School of Shadrinsky District) was awarded in the special nomination For Creativity.

According to the results of all three rounds, Albert Pospelov (Baydarskaya Secondary School of Polovinsky District) became the winner of the Olympiad. The second place was won by Anna Moskalyova (Kurgan Technical School of Service and Technology). The third place was taken by Kristina Getmanova (Sumkinskaya Secondary School of Polovinsky Municipal District).

The winners and prize-winners of the Olympiad were awarded memorable prizes. After the award ceremony, the guests of the library took part in an exciting local history quiz Trans-Urals: from Corner to Corner.

The Olympiad MOI KRAI was held with the support of the Department of Culture of Kurgan Region, the Department of Education and Science of Kurgan Region, Kurgan State University, the regional branch of the Russian Historical Society in Kurgan Region, the Binnopharm Group Company, as well as deputies of the Kurgan City Duma Oleg Prozorov and Andrey Katsai.

The collection Kurgan Region: Pages of History is available on the Presidential Library’s portal. It contains archival documents, statistical essays, research studies, cartographic and other materials covering various aspects of the development of the region in different historical periods.
