On June 14, 2023, a cooperation agreement between the Presidential Library and the Leningrad Nuclear Power Plant, branch of Rosenergoatom JSC, was signed in the Presidential Library within the framework of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. The document was signed by Yuri Nosov, Director General of the Presidential Library, and Vladimir Pereguda, Deputy Director General of Rosenergoatom JSC, Director of the Leningrad Nuclear Power Plant.

According to Sergey Grinevich, Head of the Information and Communication Technologies Department of the Administrative Directorate of the President of the Russian Federation, who was present at the event, “the subject of the agreement is a long-term partnership between the Presidential Library and the Leningrad Nuclear Power Plant on the formation of a unified information space in the field of history, theory and practice of Russian statehood”.

Yuri Nosov, Director General of the Presidential Library, noted: “The document provides for the implementation of joint projects within the framework of organizing and conducting training workshops, forums, symposiums, scientific and practical conferences and other events. The Presidential Library’s electronic resources will be used in the preparation of these projects”.

Vladimir Pereguda, Deputy Director General of Rosenergoatom JSC, Director of the Leningrad Nuclear Power Plant, expressed confidence that joint projects of the Presidential Library and the NPP will be in demand by employees of the Leningrad Nuclear Power Plant, because “everyone should know the history of their country and pass this knowledge on to children”.  And this knowledge should be based solely on truthful information. It is necessary to preserve the memory of the most important events in the history of the country, to counteract attempts to falsify history, to promote patriotic education of the younger generation.

On the territory of the Leningrad NPP, it is planned to open remote access centers to the Presidential Library’s electronic collections, which today contain over a million depositary items. Scientific and methodological support will be provided on the use of information resources of the library.

The cooperation of the institutions will cover the exchange and incorporation of information resources, including audiovisual works, in the electronic collections of the library, as well as the provision of handwritten printed documents for digitization.

The Leningrad NPP is one of the largest nuclear power plants in Russia, which provides more than 55% of the energy consumption of St. Petersburg and Leningrad Region. Every second light bulb in the area is powered by the energy generated by the NPP. The Leningrad NPP accounts for 33% of the energy balance of the entire North-Western region. The NPP is the most important city-forming enterprise of the city of Sosnovy Bor, located on the southern shore of the Gulf of Finland, not far from St. Petersburg. In 2023, the NPP will celebrate the half-century anniversary of its launch.
