The Presidential Library broadcasts film trips

Golden autumn is coming as this is the best time to travel. Thanks to the broadcasts of films and video lectures on the Presidential Library’s portal in the TV Channel section, it is now possible to travel without leaving home. We invite everyone to learn about the most striking film screenings from September 16-30.

Thus, in the second half of September, one can visit Vologda Region and see the famous Ferapontov Monastery of the Nativity of the Mother of God, founded in the 15th century and painted by artists led by the famous master Dionysius.

It will be possible to go to Novgorod Region to see the frescoes of the Cathedral of the Nativity of the Virgin of the Novgorod Anthony Monastery and the Church of the Transfiguration of the Savior on Kovalev - one of the smallest monasteries that existed on donations from the rich and noble people of the city. This will be possible thanks to the broadcast of the Presidential Library’s video films “The Saved Frescoes of the Cathedral of the Nativity of the Mother of God of the Novgorod Anthony Monastery” and “The Saved Frescoes of the Savior on Kovalev”. The film "Golden Pantry of Veliky Novgorod" in turn offers the opportunity to make a kind of a tour into the little-known world of the Novgorod Museum. The film tells about the collection of arts and crafts. The film "Russian icon in the collection of the Novgorod Museum-Reserve" introduces the audience to the outstanding and most interesting monuments from the collection of ancient Russian painting, numbering one and a half thousand icons of the middle of the 11th - early 20th centuries. Documentary "Novgorod. 1150 Years in the History of the Russian State” is dedicated to the events connected with the establishment of Russian statehood in the Novgorod territories – the calling of Rurik in 862, the rise of Novgorod at the turn of the 10th–11th centuries, the political structure and economic system of Novgorod, and the entry of Novgorod into the Muscovite state.

The Presidential Library presents Staraya Ladoga. The study of the unique painting on the walls of the Old Ladoga cathedrals is described in the films “Saved Frescoes of Staraya Ladoga. Churches of the 12th century” and “Saved Frescoes of Staraya Ladoga. Church of St. George”.

On September 17, the next anniversary of the birth of the founder of modern cosmonautics and rocket technology, Konstantin Tsiolkovsky, a cycle of video materials dedicated to space exploration is presented. These are unique newsreels that capture Konstantin Tsiolkovsky himself, the last minutes before the start of Yuri Gagarin's flight into space; the documentary "Space Pilots", which is based on unique video footage filmed during secret tests at the Research Institute of Aviation and Space Medicine; the film "Ascension", dedicated to the exploration of space by mankind; as well as a video lecture "106 minutes of Yuri Gagarin: declassified details of the first space flight".

Marking the Day of the Armourer, a professional holiday of workers of the Russian defence industry, which is celebrated annually in our country on September 19, a number of videos are to be shown on the Presidential Library’s portal. The documentary of the Presidential Library “Tula weapons of the Romanov era” is dedicated to the history of the Tula State Museum of Weapons, which dates back to the 15th century, its collections, as well as the history of Russian weapons during the reign of the House of Romanov.

The video film "Leningrad Addresses of M. T. Kalashnikov", also filmed by the Presidential Library’s specialists, is dedicated to a little-known period in the life of a small arms designer - work in Leningrad in 1941. Also, viewers have a rare opportunity to see one of the oldest artillery ranges in the country, where some samples of Kalashnikov's small arms were tested, the installation of a monument to M.T. Kalashnikov on the territory of the Military Historical Museum of Artillery, Engineering and Signal Corps. The film shows rare pictures from the Kalashnikov family archive and Mikhail Timofeevich's awards.

The films of the "Technologies of Victory" series from the collection of documentaries of the historical channel "365 Days of TV" will tell about the weapon, thanks to which the Victory in the Great Patriotic War was forged. So, in the film “PPSh. Symbol of Victory" it is about the Soviet submachine gun Shpagin during the Great Patriotic War, and in the film "Victory Tank IS-3. History of Creation" - about the latest development of the wartime Chelyabinsk Tractor Plant - the IS-3 tank, which received the unofficial name "Victory tank". The film "IL-2. The Flying Tank tells about the famous Soviet attack aircraft of the Great Patriotic War, created in OKB-240 under the direction of Sergei Ilyushin, and the film Katyusha went ashore tells about the Soviet BM-13 rocket artillery combat vehicle.

Especially for students of grades 6-11, video lectures are shown on the Presidential Library’s portal from 08:30 to 16:00 Moscow time, the topics of which reveal and supplement the school curriculum. The subject of the video lecture - Knowledge of Russia- reflects the main directions in the formation of the Presidential Library's funds: the history of the Russian state and law, the Russian language as the state language of the Russian Federation. Lectures to the audience are traditionally given by authoritative specialists from scientific and educational institutions of St. Petersburg, Moscow and other cities of Russia.

Films and video lectures prepared by the Presidential Library, as well as videotapes of leading domestic film and television studios are broadcast around the clock on the Presidential Library portal in the TV Channel section. Their display is timed to memorable and significant dates and major events in the Presidential Library.
