The business program of the XI International Anti-Counterfeiting-2023 Forum goes public

On October 5–6, the XI International Anti-Counterfeiting-2023 Forum will be held in St. Petersburg at the Presidential Library.

The main vectors of the business program will be the development of digital labeling in the EAEU countries, the exchange of experience on the implementation of such a system in various product groups, its effectiveness and opportunities for further development.

“The fight against counterfeiting requires joint efforts on the part of authorities, law enforcement agencies, manufacturers and the public. This will protect consumer rights, support legal producers and ensure the safety and quality of products in the markets of the Eurasian space. I am confident that the Forum will provide participants with effective mechanisms and technical solutions for further joint work to prevent the spread of counterfeit goods and will help create conditions for fair competition”, - noted Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Ekaterina Priezzheva.

The focus of the first day is protecting consumer rights and informing the population and business about practices to combat counterfeit products. Topics include a unified approach to regulating markets, synchronization and exchange of data from national systems as a way to simplify cross-border interaction, counterfeiting on the Internet, monitoring and assessing the situation in the field of combating illicit trafficking in industrial products, digital solutions of control and supervisory authorities of the EAEU countries, combating illegal trafficking in tobacco, protecting children from counterfeit toys, counterfeit food products. 

The second day of the Forum will be devoted to new forms of interaction on issues of combating illegal products in the industrial sector (light industry, production of construction materials, etc.). During the sessions, experts will discuss the risks borne by buyers of counterfeits and measures to increase the level of control over counterfeit and adulterated alcohol.

On October 6, with the assistance of Rosmolodezh, the Fifth International Youth Anti-counterfeiting-M Forum will be held, where budding industry specialists will voice their views on the problem of illicit trafficking in industrial products.

In addition, the 20th anniversary meeting of the Advisory Council for the Protection of Consumer Rights of the CIS Member States and an extended meeting of TC 124 “Means and methods of countering counterfeiting and counterfeiting” will take place at the forum.

The first International Anti-Counterfeiting Forum was organized in 2012 in accordance with the order of the Government of the Russian Federation.

During the Forum, the most important tasks in the field of development of legislation on intellectual rights were identified, the need was expressed for coordinating the activities of federal and regional authorities, public organizations, commodity producers and rights holders. Based on the results of the Forum, it was decided to hold the International Anti-Counterfeiting Forum annually on the territory of the EAEU member countries. Thus, over the years, the Forum participants were hosted by Republic of Kazakhstan (2014), Republic of Belarus (2015), Republic of Armenia (2016), and Kyrgyz Republic (2017).

Since 2017, in accordance with the order of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council dated March 7, 2017 № 3 “About the International Anti-Counterfeiting Forum”, the Forum has become an official event of the EAEU, its organization and holding is carried out by the member state, which representative presides over the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council.

The Presidential Library is under the jurisdiction of the Administrative Directorate of the President of the Russian Federation and is the first electronic national library of Russia. 

The library is located in the center of St. Petersburg, in the historical building of the Holy Synod, built in the second quarter of the 19th century according to the design of the outstanding architect Carlo Rossi, and is the largest multifunctional information, scientific, educational and cultural center.
