The conference “Sea Vessels to Be...” held at the Presidential Library
On October 30, 2023 a scientific and educational conference “Sea vessels will be...” marking the 327th anniversary of the creation of the regular Russian Navy was held at the Presidential Library.
In his welcoming speech to the event participants, Director General of the Presidential Library Yuri Nosov noted that “carrying out educational events in the library within the framework of cooperation with the Admirals Club has already become a good tradition”.
The Presidential Library always pays much attention to preserving historical memory, countering the falsification of history, and creating an information space that helps strengthen patriotism and spiritual and moral values. “The electronic collections of the Presidential Library contain many documents related to the history of the Russian Navy”, - noted Yuri Nosov. “The social significance of the electronic resources of the Presidential Library is confirmed by the fact that Internet links (QR codes) to our materials are included in a new single Russian history textbook".
The conference was opened with a speech by the chairman of the regional public organization of admirals and generals of the Navy “Admirals Club”, Admiral Viktor Chirkov, who held the post of Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy in 2012–2016. A graduate of the first class of 1942, Solovetsky School of Jung, a veteran of the Great Patriotic War, captain 1st rank, historian and writer Alexander Maslakov, spoke to the event participants.
The conference “Sea Vessels to Be...” also touched upon topics related to different periods of the history of the Russian fleet - from the era of the sailing fleet to the present; special attention will be paid to the mass heroism of army and navy soldiers during the siege and liberation of Leningrad.
