The Presidential Library presented educational projects at the RUSSIA EXPO
On November 8, 2023, in pavilion №57 “Russia - my History” as part of the marathon “Cultural Code: In Search of Identity” Deputy Director of the Department for Scientific and Educational Work of the Presidential Library Alexey Voronovich spoke about the successful experience of including Internet links (QR-codes) on library information resources in a new unified history textbook for grades 10–11. Links to resources are directed to thematic collections, the total volume of which is more than 15 thousand documents and materials on the history of Russia, the theory and practice of Russian statehood and the Russian language.
Active cooperation with the teaching community allowed the library to implement another major project - “Presidential Library for Teachers: Teaching Using Primary Sources”. Teachers are offered methodological assistance in dealing with primary sources - lesson scripts in humanities subjects. They are based on library information resources. In addition, the collections of the Presidential Library are presented, systematized by academic subjects and in accordance with curricula from 5th to 11th grade. At the moment, scenarios for lessons on the history of the Second World War are presented, but next year it is planned to expand the number of topics for history lessons, as well as develop scenarios for lessons in social studies.
Marking the Year of Teachers and Mentors in the Russian Federation, the Presidential Library held a contest of pedagogical projects “The Future of the Fatherland in the Hands of a Teacher,” organized with the support of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation.
Together with its permanent partner, the Gorchakov Lyceum of MGIMO, the Presidential Library, based on the collection “World War II in Archival Documents” is completing the preparation of 28 video lessons by leading Russian teachers dedicated to the events of 1933–1945.
Every year the library holds a Knowledge Forum, as well as the “Russia in the Electronic World” Olympiad in subjects such as history, social studies, Russian language and Russian as a foreign language. Starting from the 2023 academic year, the National Research University Higher School of Economics has become a co-organizer of the Olympiad. The Presidential Library also holds quizzes, film screenings, video lectures, multimedia lessons and other events for schoolchildren.
The Presidential Library will continue the series of lectures as part of the RUSSIA EXPO. On December 20, in pavilion №57 “Russia - my Рistory” at 17:00, specialists from the institution will talk about the history of the Constitution of the Russian Federation. The country's basic law celebrates its 30th anniversary this year.
2024 is marked by such significant dates as the 300th anniversary of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the 80th anniversary of the complete liberation of Leningrad from the Nazi siege, and the 10th anniversary of the reunification of Crimea with Russia. Lectures on these topics are planned for visitors to the EXPO, based on digitized rare publications, exclusive photographs, archival materials, diaries, letters, and documents from private collections.
The St. Petersburg stand in sector B of pavilion №75 will show videos about the resources of the Presidential Library and the ability to access them through structured digital collections dedicated to important historical events. At the thematic season “Hospitable Petersburg”, which will be held from December 18, 2023 to January 7, 2024 at the St. Petersburg stand, together with the Committee for Tourism Development, certificates for a free tour of the main building of the Presidential Library in the Northern capital will be raffled off. In addition, business meetings, signing agreements on cooperation in the field of historical education, and negotiations with future partners are planned within the framework of the forum.
