The Presidential Library hosted a video lecture on the Basic Law of the Russian Federation

On December 4, 2023 the lecture as part of the video lecture Knowledge of Russia: “30 years of the Constitution - the Basic Law of the Russian Federation” was held at the Presidential Library.

The lecture was given by Professor of the Department of History, Theory, State and Law of Tambov State Technical University, Professor of the Department of Public Administration and Humanitarian Disciplines of the Tambov Branch of the Russian Academy of National Economy and Public Administration, Doctor of Political Sciences Igor Ivanovich Sanzharevsky.

The conversation was about democracy and public administration, separation of powers and the constitutional evolution of the public administration system in Russia. During the lecture, emphasis was placed on the historical role of the “contractual” theory of the state and the stability of political regimes, the legal monopoly of the state on power and the peculiarities of the formation of constitutionalism in the history of Russian statehood.

The author of the lecture examined the drama of the Russian political transition to the modern type of statehood, the complexity and features of the Russian process of separation of powers in a single public system, and issues of modern modernization of the mechanisms of interaction between authorities. The video lecture “30 years of the Constitution – the Basic Law of the Russian Federation” is available on the institution’s Rutube-channel. 

Preservation in electronic form and popularization of publications, films, photo and video materials, archival documents on the history of the Russian state are the most important areas of the Presidential Library's activity. The Presidential Library’s portal features the digital collection Constitution - Basic Law. It includes the texts of the constitutions of the Russian state, starting with the first Constitution of the RSFSR in 1918. The collection introduces the texts of the constitutions of the USSR of 1924, 1936, 1977 (with amendments and additions), as well as the constitutions of the RSFSR of 1925, 1937 and 1978. A large section of the collection is dedicated to the the Constitution of the Russian Federation, in force since 1993, in all its editions, including those approved during the All-Russian vote on July 1, 2020. The text of the document is posted in the electronic collections and published on the official portal, where one can learn about the texts and publications of the constitutions and charters of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation.
