The Presidential Library’s video lecture spotlighted Soviet foreign intelligence in the pre-war and war periods

The Presidential Library continues a series of lectures dedicated to the professional holiday of employees of state security agencies. The events are held with the participation of the Committee for External Relations of St. Petersburg. 

Video lecture participants learn about the most striking, interesting, significant events and operations in the history of special services, and about the specifics of professional activity. 

The first lecture was devoted to the origins of the formation of the system of state security bodies. The second lecture of the series entitled “Soviet foreign intelligence in the pre-war and war period”, which took place on December 13, the President of the Foundation for Support of State Security Reserve Officers Sergei Vasilyevich Rat talked about outstanding agents of Soviet foreign intelligence operating in the 40s XX century, about the role of intelligence services in the transfer of military and political information, about the plans of the Wehrmacht, as well as about such intelligence and counterintelligence organizations as the “Cambridge Five”, “Red Chapel”, “SMERSH”.
