The Presidential Library marking the Year of the Family

The New Year 2024 was declared the Year of the Family by decree of the President of the Russian Federation. The Presidential Library is forming a collection Family and traditional family values in Russia as the basis of Russian statehood, which is based on research, journalistic materials, periodicals, archival documents, and visual sources. The collection includes three sections: “Family and traditional family values in modern Russia”, “History of family and traditional family values in Russia”, “Family photo portrait in Russian history”.

Based on materials from the library's collections, the history of the development of the family institution in Russia from the times of Ancient Rus' to the present is shown. Considerable attention is paid to state policy to preserve and strengthen family values in the Russian Empire, the Soviet Union and the Russian Federation. Stories on providing assistance to families of military and government employees are presented. The collection also reveals the peculiarities of family relations of various peoples of Russia and issues of raising children.

The Presidential Library will continue to expand the digital collection “Family and traditional family values in Russia as the basis of Russian statehood” throughout 2024.

Events will also be dedicated to the Year of the Family in the Presidential Library. In April, it is planned to hold the second scientific and practical conference “Promotion of national cultural heritage in the electronic environment in order to popularize state policy in the field of family protection and preservation of traditional family values”.

As part of the implementation of the cooperation agreement with the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation, Tatyana Nikolaevna Moskalkova, the library plans joint educational projects dedicated to the Year of the Family.
