The Presidential Library spotlighted the role of special services in the liberation of Leningrad

In 2024 the Presidential Library continues the series of video lectures Knowledge of Russia, dedicated to the history of Russian state security agencies. 

As part of the cycle, participants have an opportunity to learn about the main areas of activity of the intelligence services, the specifics of professional activities, the most interesting and significant operations and outstanding employees. Video recordings of the first three lectures of the series, held in 2023, are available on the Rutube-channel of the Presidential Library.

The lecture “SMERSH of the Leningrad Front” took place on January 17, 2024. The role of SMERSH in the liberation of Leningrad". During the event, listeners were told about the emergence of the counterintelligence organization “Death to Spies!” and its role in countering the espionage services of Nazi Germany, as well as the contribution of the 4th Directorate of the NKVD in the liquidation of the Leningrad enemy group.
