Specialists of the Regional Center of the Presidential Library based on the National Library of Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area held a series of interactive lectures “Life in besieged Leningrad”. The events were timed to coincide with the 80th anniversary of the complete liberation of the city from the Nazo siege. More than 160 schoolchildren and students from Salekhard joined the lectures.

The pupils were told about the life of people in the besieged city: about the daily norm of bread per person, about the activities of educational institutions, about work in factories, about cultural events.

It should be noted that when developing the lectures, archival documents, memories of residents of besieged Leningrad, and audiovisual materials presented on the Presidential Library's portal were used.

The Presidential Library’s portal features the collection Defence and Siege of Leningrad, which contains memories of witnesses of those terrible days, as well as film and photo chronicles, official documents, materials from personal archives, periodicals and much more.
