Penza teachers of Russian language and literature learned about the pedagogical potential of the Presidential Library's resources

On February 20, 2024, specialists from the Lermontov Penza Regional Library based on the Penza Regional Center of the Presidential Library held a workshop for teachers of the Russian language and literature “The pedagogical potential of the Presidential Library's resources”. The event was organized as part of cooperation with the Institute of Regional Development of Penza Region.

The participants were told about the Presidential Library's portal. Teachers learned how to use simple and advanced search, how to correctly set search queries, how to deal with an electronic document, which sections of the website will be useful in extracurricular activities, and which can be offered to students to search for additional material.

Teachers were introduced to the Gosudarika portal, an information and educational project of the Presidential Library for schoolchildren, which introduces children to the main sources on the history of Russian statehood and the Russian language. The resource contains chronicles, collections of folklore, monuments of ancient Russian literature and much more.

Special attention was paid to the collection of the Presidential Library Russian Language. It includes more than 1,100 depository items of rare archival documents, including manuscripts, monuments of Russian writing, archival documents, research papers, dictionaries, reference books, teaching aids and much more. The participants were told about the structure of the collection, focusing on the materials most valuable for the educational process.

During the event, a review of the Presidential Library’s collections dedicated to Russian writers was carried out. Particular attention was paid to the selection Ivan Krylov (1769–1844), since the 255th anniversary of the playwright, poet, fabulist, satirist, publicist and publisher of literary and educational magazines was celebrated in February. In addition, teachers answered questions from practical assignments with the help of books dedicated to the life and work of Ivan Andreevich Krylov.

Teachers were recommended to refer in their work to the methodological guide Using the resources of the Presidential Library in school lessons, prepared by specialists from the Penza Regional Center of the Presidential Library, as well as the educational project of the Presidential Library Multimedia Lessons.

Specialists from the regional center told the workshop participants about the interactive Olympiad of the Presidential Library in history, social studies and the Russian language Russia in the electronic world. It was noted that the library does a lot of work aimed at supporting educational processes. The information resources presented on its portal and in electronic reading rooms are useful additional material for conducting lessons in the Russian language and literature.

At the end of the event, everyone was able to register in the electronic reading room of the Presidential Library.

The Presidential Library's portal features the collection Penza Region: Pages of History. It includes archival documents, essays, studies, statistical and other materials covering various aspects of the development of the region in different historical periods.
