
The Presidential Library hosted the third stage of the Olympiad Russia in the Electronic World
The final of the Presidential Library Olympiad for schoolchildren and students “Russia in the Electronic World” took place on March 12-14. More than 500 people competed to qualify for the second round. In total, this year more than 2.5 thousand children from 66 regions of the Russian Federation and a number of foreign countries joined the intellectual contest, including the first and second stages.
The “Russia in the Electronic World” Olympiad was held by the Presidential Library and the National Research University “Higher School of Economics” in individual subjects - history, social studies and the Russian language. Students of grades 10–11, as well as students studying in institutions of secondary vocational education in programs in the field of arts, from Russia and foreign countries participated in it.
During the Olympiad, children tried their hand at each of the disciplines or choose only the subject in which they understand best. The results were based on the results of the individual contest. Winners and runners-up were awarded diplomas. The best participants also received additional points for admission to a number of universities, a list of which is being compiled and will soon be available on the Olympiad's portal.
The contest included three mandatory stages. The first took place from September 20 to November 29, 2023. The second is from December 20, 2023 to January 18, 2024. The final stage took place in person from March 12 to March 14, 2024. Participants in the third round could also be the winners and prize-awardees of the Olympiad “Russia in the Electronic World” of the previous year, who continue their studies in organizations that carry out educational activities in educational programs of basic and secondary general education, in the form of family education or self-education, mastering the specified educational programs abroad, as well as those mastering educational programs of secondary vocational education in the field of arts. Finalists from St. Petersburg and Leningrad Region met at Senate Square, 3, and guys from other regions meet at the remote electronic reading rooms of the Presidential Library.
The Olympiad tasks were based on the materials from the Presidential Library's electronc collections. Therefore, studying the library resources on the official portal can help participants answer the contest questions as completely and accurately as possible. The guys could also practice in advance based on assignments from previous years posted on the project website in the Archive section.
The main objective of the contest is to introduce students to working with archival sources of information on the history, theory and practice of Russian statehood. The electronic collections of the Presidential Library contain more than a million digitized copies of rare documents that constitute the historical and cultural heritage of our country. The Olympiad is aimed at finding and supporting young talents and promoting humanitarian knowledge among young people.
The “Russia in the Electronic World” Olympiad was held with the organizational support of the Novosibirsk State Pedagogical University, St. Petersburg State University of Economics and the North-West Institute of Management - a branch of RANEPA. Information partner - GlavSprav portal.
It should be noted that during the entire existence of the interactive educational project - since 2010 - more than 57,000 people have tried their hand at it, many of whom subsequently entered leading universities of Russia.
