Teachers and library workers from Yekaterinburg and Moscow improved their qualifications at the Presidential Library
From March 18 to March 22, 2024, the Presidential Library hosted training for employees of educational institutions in Yekaterinburg and representatives of the Moscow Pedagogical State University in an additional professional development program “Improving the efficiency of the educational process based on the methodology of using digital resources of the Presidential Library”. Training took place remotely.
Students of the program learned about the structure of the collections and the search system of the Presidential Library's portal; mastered the specifics of working in an electronic reading room and the ability to access institutional resources through the portal of remote access centers; learned how to use library resources in the educational process, as well as when organizing educational projects and events, study the contents of the Presidential Library's collections included in a single history textbook for senior pupils. Of all the Internet links in new textbooks, more than 15% of QR-codes lead to the collections of the Presidential Library, which contain more than 15 thousand documents and materials on the history of Russia. The Presidential Library's portal features a major electronic project - “Presidential Library for Teachers: Teaching Using Primary Sources”. The project is intended to provide methodological assistance to teachers when working with primary sources. The lesson scenarios on humanities subjects presented as part of the project were developed based on the information resources of the Presidential Library, including research, journalism, archival documents, visual and cartographic materials.
For the Presidential Library, interaction with regions is one of the key areas of activity. The digital collections of the Presidential Library contain more than a million depository items. Among them are electronic copies of printed and archival materials, audio and video records, abstracts of dissertations and other documents that spotlight the centuries-old history of Russian statehood, the theory and practice of law, as well as the Russian language as the state language of Russia. Regional electronic collections, which present materials about the constituent entities of the Russian Federation, occupy a special place in the Presidential Library’s collections.
Thus, the Presidential Library's portal features the electronic collection Sverdlovsk Region: Pages of History. It contains electronic copies of studies, statistical materials, essays and photographs of the 19th – early 20th centuries. The materials introduce the geographical, demographic, socio-economic and socio-political aspects of the history of the region. A separate collection City of Yekaterinburg was formed marking the 300th anniversary of the capital of the Urals, which was celebrated in 2023. It includes electronic copies of official documents, archival materials, reference books and guides, studies, visual and cartographic sources telling about the history of the city from the 18th century to the present.
