Cadet Day at the Presidential Library dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the complete liberation of Leningrad from the Nazi siege

Cadet Day was held at the Presidential Library on April 9, 2024. This year the event was dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the complete liberation of Leningrad from the Nazi siege.

Cadet Day was held in the format of a quiz, which involved teams of the St. Petersburg Cadet Corps of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, the First Border Cadet Military Corps of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation, the St. Petersburg Cadet Corps “Boarding School for Pupils of the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation”, the Cadet Fire Department, rescue corps of St. Petersburg University of the State Fire Service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia.

All quiz questions were based on the Presidential Library's collections available in the Defence and Siege of Leningrad collection and the virtual tour Materialized Memory: Defence and Siege of Leningrad in Museum Expositions.

According to Yuri Nosov, Director General of the Presidential Library, “the results of the quiz showed that the guys carefully studied historical sources from the Presidential Library’s collections”. 

The winner of the full-time stage of the intellectual contest, which took place on April 9 at the Presidential Library, was the team of the First Border Cadet Military Corps of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation.

On the same day, the winners of the regional stage of the quiz, which took place from March 25 to April 1, were awarded online on the Presidential Library Olympiad's website. The most active participants were cadets of the Tver Suvorov Military Order of Honor School, students of the Cadet Boarding School named after Hero of the Soviet Union Ivan Zakharovich Beznoskov from the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area - Yugra and students of the Lieutenant General V. M. Khalilov Moscow Military Music School.  The winner of the regional stage of the quiz was Egor Sopov from the Tver Suvorov Military School. He scored 62 out of 65 points.

Director General of the Presidential Library Yuri Nosov congratulated the winner of the regional stage of the quiz and his teacher via video conferencing. A diploma for the winner of the online quiz and gifts from the Presidential Library will be sent soon.
