The Day of Local Self-government held in Khanty-Mansiysk Regional Center of the Presidential Library

26 April 2024

On April 22, 2024, a multi-format event "Day of Local Self-Government" was held at the Regional Center of the Presidential Library, which is located in the Ugra State Library. It was visited by schoolchildren from the Khanty-Mansiysk district of the region.

It should be noted that the Day of Local Self-Government is celebrated annually in the Russian Federation on April 21. This date was established in honor of the publication in 1785 of the Charter of the Cities, which marked the beginning of the development of Russian legislation on local self-government.

At a meeting at the Regional Center of the Presidential Library, students talked about the Constitution of the Russian Federation, law education, and local governments. Students were able to test their knowledge in the quest game "Local Government". In addition, they learned interesting facts about Peter the Great thanks to the portal of the Presidential Library. In conclusion, the head of the Khanty-Mansiysk district Kirill Minulin met with children.

The event was prepared with the help of materials from the Presidential Library project "The President of the Russian Federation as a guarantor of human rights and freedoms of the citizens of the Russian Federation" and the collection "Constitution – Basic Law", which presents the texts of the constitutions of the Russian state of various historical eras. For example: the first constitution of the RSFSR in 1918, three constitutions of the USSR (1924, 1936 and 1977), the constitutions of the RSFSR in 1925 1937 and 1978, the current Constitution of the Russian Federation of 1993, as well as the original texts and editions of the current constitutions of individual subjects of the Russian Federation.

The electronic collections of the Presidential Library also contain a large number of documents dedicated to the personality and activities of Peter I. Thus, the collection "Peter I (1672-1725)" includes more than 600 depository items of archival materials.
