
Films about the Great Patriotic War available on portal of the Presidential Library
The Presidential Library's portal broadcasts films and video lectures prepared by the Presidential Library, as well as video films from leading Russian film and TV studios. Their display is timed to commemorate memorable and significant dates, major events at the Presidential Library. We invite our readers to watch the most striking film screenings of the first half of May.
By the 79th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, the documentary chronicle "Berlin Operation April 25 – May 2, 1945" and the film trilogy "Finale", shot at the St. Petersburg Documentary Film Studio, will be shown on the Presidential Library portal. The film is dedicated to the last front-line operations of the Great Patriotic War and consists of parts "The Long Way to Germany", "Overseas campaign" and "The Road to Berlin".
On May 9, films dedicated to the feat of the Soviet people during the Great Patriotic War will be televised. The video made by the Presidential Library "Victory is one for All" talks about the invaluable contribution to the victory of all the socialist republics that were part of the USSR, photographs of military memorials, monuments and obelisks established in memory of the Victory are shown.
Thank to the film "With a Prayer for the Fallen", one can visit the church of the Holy Martyrs Adrian and Natalia, which was built in honor of the dead and missing in the defense of Leningrad from the German invaders. The parish of the church is actively engaged in perpetuating the memory of the fallen defenders of Leningrad: the Museum of Military Glory "DOT" was created, a memorial park was built around the church.
The video tape of the Presidential Library "Cabin Boys from Valaam Island" tells about the feat of students of the school of boatswains of the Navy who participated in the battles at the Nevsky Pyatachok bridgehead and the protection of the Ladoga crossing on the Road of Life in 1941-1942.
The documentary "Library Front 1941-1945", created by the Presidential Library together with the Library Assembly of Eurasia, is dedicated to the contribution of libraries of the USSR to the victory over fascism. The film shows the activities of the republican libraries (currently the national libraries of the CIS countries) from 1941 to 1945 in the occupied territories, the front line, in the rear. The documentary basis of the film was made up of diaries, letters, telegrams, memoirs of library workers who worked during the war.
"Mikhail Bobrov. Guardian of the Angel" is the title of the Presidential Library's film about the life and professional activities of the honorary citizen of St. Petersburg, military climber, front–line scout Mikhail Bobrov. During the Great Patriotic War, he participated in the masking of the high–rise dominants of Leningrad - Peter and Paul, St. Isaac's, St. Nicholas Cathedrals, Admiralty, Mikhailovsky Castle. In the post-war years, Mikhail Bobrov devoted himself to coaching and teaching.
Also on this day, documentaries of the historical channel 365 Days TV from the cycle "On the Way to the Great Victory" will be shown: "The next goal is Stalingrad" and "Indestructible and legendary". The second film tells about the 2nd Guards Army, which played an important role in the defeat of the German fascist group of troops near Stalingrad. The film "War in sight" from the cycle "Victory Technologies" tells about the snipers-heroes of the Great Patriotic War and their weapons.
The videofilm "Do not wait!" Directed by Vasily Chiginsky, he tells about the little-known story of the circumnavigation of the C-56 submarine that set off from Vladivostok in October 1942.
Especially for students, video lectures are shown on the Presidential Library’s portal, the topics of which reveal and complement the school curriculum. The subject of the video lecture Knowledge of Russia reflects the main directions in the formation of the Presidential Library's collections: the history of the Russian state and law, the Russian language as the state language of the Russian Federation. Lectures to the audience are traditionally given by authoritative specialists from scientific and educational institutions of St. Petersburg, Moscow and other cities of Russia.
