Students and teachers of Penza region learned about resources of Presidential Library

On April 25, 2024, specialists of the Regional Center of the Presidential Library, operating based on Lermontov Penza Regional Library, held a training event at Ermin School No. 1 in the village of Zasechnoye, where the remote access center of the Presidential Library recently opened.

A presentation of the collections of the Presidential Library was prepared for teachers. Audience was told about the scientific and educational project Great Russia, was invited to participate in the competition of pedagogical initiatives The Future of the Fatherland in the hands of a Teacher, was introduced to the section of the institution's portal "Multimedia Lessons". The digitized books and archival documents shown in the presentation aroused great interest among teachers.

The employees of the Lermontov Penza Regional Library shared with the teachers their experience in popularizing the resources of the Presidential Library and conducting quizzes, the answers to which can be found in the sources on the institution's portal.

Experts from the Regional Center of the Presidential Library conducted multimedia lessons for schoolchildren. Thus, the event dedicated to the 340th anniversary of the birth of Empress Catherine I - "Cinderella on the Russian throne" – was attended by children from the eighth grade. On the portal of the Presidential Library, they learned about the book "The Reign of Catherine I" (1856) and the details of the Empress's ascension to the throne. The students also took part in the game "Truth or Lie?", the questions of which were prepared based on the materials of the publication "History of Russia in Stories for Children" (1890), posted on the institution's portal. Thanks to the intellectual competition, the students learned that during the reign of Catherine I, the Imperial Academy of Sciences was opened, the Order of St. Alexander Nevsky was established, and an alliance with Austria was concluded.

In addition, a practice-oriented event "Journey of a Lifetime" was held for students, dedicated to the 185th anniversary of Nikolai Przhevalsky. Within its framework, seventh grade students were told about the contribution of an outstanding naturalist and traveler to geographical science. In the section of the Presidential Library portal On this day, schoolchildren learned the historical reference telling about the main milestones of the biography of Nikolai Przhevalsky. Special attention was paid to the book by F. A. Tarapygina "The famous Russian traveler Nikolai Mikhailovich Przhevalsky" (1911) from the holdings of the institution. From it, the children learned about four expeditions of Nikolai Mikhailovich in Central Asia, following the results of each of which a new book by the traveler was published.

At the end of the events, the participants noted that the resources of the Presidential Library are very useful in educational activities.

The collection Penza region: pages of history is presented on the portal of the Presidential Library. It includes archival documents, essays, research, statistical and other materials covering various aspects of the region's development in different historical periods.
