Virtual tour "Kobona: Road of Life" available on Presidential Library's portal

The Presidential Library welcomes to take an interactive tour of the museum "Kobona: Road of Life". A virtual tour prepared by the library's specialists in cooperation with the Museum Agency of Leningrad Region is available on the Library's portal.

Village of Kobona, located on the eastern shore of Lake Ladoga, where the museum is located, has forever gone down in the history of the Great Patriotic War: here the famous Road of Life connected besieged Leningrad with the Mainland.

The virtual tour provides an opportunity to explore museum halls from any place of the world. Photographs, maps, diagrams, drawings, diaries, authentic wartime objects are stored in the museum collections, most of which are accompanied by comprehensive and carefully selected information about the exhibit, its history, context, etc.

The exposition is divided into several blocks by themes. First one is the hall dedicated to the Road of Life. Visitors can learn here about the design and operation of this complex logistics system, built in a short time in extremely difficult conditions; about people whose efforts constantly kept in touch with the city surrounded by the enemy. The atmosphere of that time can be sensed in the siege room - second part of the exhibition. It tells about the everyday side of life of Leningrad citizens during the siege. An installation depicting the bustle of the evacuation center is presented in the cinema hall.

Other parts of the exhibition are devoted to the school, which now houses the museum. Visitors can learn about the evacuation center, which was located in these walls during the war; about the history of southern Ladoga region and village of Kobona; about the life and work of the famous poet Prokofiev, a native of these places.

Virtual projects are an actively developing area of activity of the Presidential Library, through which unique materials become available to a wide audience.
