The Presidential Library is partner of XVII session of European-Asian Legal Congress's business program

On May 23-24, 2024, the Presidential Library will be taking part in the XVII session of the European-Asian Legal Congress, "Legal Cooperation and Social Progress: To the 100th Anniversary of S. Alekseev."

This event, being held in Yekaterinburg, is dedicated to the centennial of the renowned legal scholar Sergei Alekseev - Doctor of Law, professor, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, honored scientist of the RSFSR, and laureate of the State Prize of the USSR, one of the co-authors of the texts for the Constitution and Civil Code of Russia.

In a message sent to the participants and guests of the congress, the Director General of the Presidential Library, Yuri Nosov, emphasized the importance of the event's focus on social progress and the unification of representatives from different fields, including science, culture, business, and politics, at the congress venue.

The Presidential Library collects, stores, and presents in electronic form a vast array of documents that reflect the history of Russia's development and the relationship between the country and other nations throughout various historical periods. These documents, including archived materials, are organized into digital thematic collections that are accessible worldwide through the library's online portal.

A significant portion of the electronic collection at the Presidential Library focuses on the history of Russian statehood and law, as well as their contemporary institutions, and is widely used by readers both within Russia and internationally.

As part of the event program for the XVII European-Asian Legal Congress, several events have been planned:

- Plenary discussion on "Ideas of S. Alekseev: History, Modernity, and the Future"
- VII Alekseev Readings
- A series of themed panel discussions and roundtables
- VII Session of the Coordinating Committee of the BRICS Law Institute- General meeting of participants and partners of the consortium "European-Asian Law University"

- III European-Asian Youth Legal Forum and other events

The section of the congress titled "Development of Legal Science and Scientific Memory in the Socio-Cultural Space" will feature a presentation by Natalia Dunaeva, Scientific Secretary of the Presidential Library and Doctor of Law. Her talk, titled "Historical Jurisprudence as a Space of Memory and Dialogue of Generations in Science", will be based on materials from a series of scientific publications by the Presidential Library.

The Presidential Library has been a partner of the business program for the European-Asian Legal Congress organized by the Yakovlev Ural State Law University and the Association of Lawyers of Russia for many years. These organizations have successfully developed cooperation in educational and expert activities and have interacted to create an electronic space for reliable knowledge about the history of Russian statehood and law.
