Presidential Library and Institute of Educational Development Strategy signed a cooperation agreement and opened Library's remote access center

On June 20th, 2024, the Presidential Library of the Administrative Directorate of the President of the Russian Federation participated in a round table discussion on Conceptual Approaches to Historical Education in the General Education System topic, organized by the Institute of Education Development Strategy.

This event was attended by Tatyana Vasilyeva, Deputy Minister of Education of the Russian Federation, Vladislav Kononov, Head of the Department for Coordinating State Policy Issues in Historical and Humanitarian Affairs of the Presidential Administration, Natalia Tretyak, General Director of Publishing House "Prosveshchenie", Anastasia Mayer, Executive Director of All-Russian Public Organization "Association of History and Social Science Teachers", Maxim Kostenko, Acting Director of Institute for Education Strategy, and Yuri Nosov, Director General of Presidential Library, among other distinguished guests.

As part of the roundtable discussion, an agreement was signed between the Presidential Library of the Administrative Directorate of the President of the Russian Federation and the Institute of Educational Strategy Development, which is subordinate to the Ministry of Education of Russia. The document was signed by Yuri Nosov, General Director of the library, and Maxim Kostenko, acting director of the institute.

The agreement envisages the implementation of joint educational, innovative, research and methodological projects, as well as the holding of socially significant events and the mutual use of library resources.

Also on the same day, the center for remote access to resources of the Presidential Library was opened based on the Educational Development Institute. This will enable the staff of the institute to use documents and materials from the electronic collection of the Presidential Library for their research and academic activities.

Currently, the Library's holdings contain more than one million books, periodicals, news reels, photographs, scientific and educational films, abstracts of dissertations, archival documents, and materials on the history of Russian statehood and the theory and practice of law in electronic form. These resources are available in Russian, the official language of the Russian Federation.

More than 1,700 remote access centers to the Presidential Library's resources have been established on the territory of Russia and abroad. The Presidential Library is the first national electronic library in Russia, and it is under the supervision of the Administrative Directorate of the President of the Russian Federation.

The library is located in the heart of St. Petersburg, in a historic building that was built in the second quarter of the 19th century by the renowned architect Karl Rossi. This building serves as a national electronic repository for digital copies of significant documents related to the history of the Russian state, as well as a multifaceted cultural, educational, scientific, and information-analytic center.
