12 August 2024

On August 12, 2024, the Presidential Library hosted an online methodological roundtable on the participation of Russian libraries in the international arena. The event was organized by the Rudomino All-Russian State Library for Foreign Literature, which is a partner of the Presidential Library.

During the roundtable, participants discussed the contributions of Russian libraries to international professional associations such as IFLA (International Federation of Library Associations), Silk Road, the BRICS Alliance of National Libraries, and the Library Assembly of Eurasia (BAE).

Yulia Selivanova, Director of the Department for Library Interaction at the Presidential Library, presented a joint project with the BAE - the creation of a multimedia resource called "Poems by National Poets of the USSR About the Great Patriotic War 1941-1945".

The project, initiated by the Presidential Library, was launched in conjunction with the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. Yuri Nosov, General Director of the Presidential Library, and Vadim Gigin, General Director of the National Library of Belarus, are leading the project. The media resource includes videos of war poems by national poets in the native languages of the former Soviet republics with Russian subtitles. Once completed, the project will be shared with participants in the BAE, who can use it to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the great victory.

The aim of the project is to strengthen the sense of belonging among citizens of different countries, particularly young people, to the heroic pages of shared history. It also aims to perpetuate the feat of Soviet people, preserve the memory of events and heroes from the Great Patriotic War, and attract attention to the rich literary heritage of CIS countries.

The online meeting was attended by representatives from Russian libraries, specialized universities, and the media. Experts from member libraries of international professional organizations participated in the roundtable discussion.
