2 September 2024

The Presidential Library of the Administrative Directorate of the President of the Russian Federation will take part in the Eastern Economic Forum, which will be held from September 3 to 6, 2024 in Vladivostok.

There will be meetings between the leadership of the library and representatives of state authorities, cultural institutions in Far Eastern Federal District, and rectors of universities. A number of agreements on cooperation will be signed regarding the preservation and promotion of the historical and cultural heritage of Russia, as well as the use of materials and documents from the library collection in events and projects at institutions.

On the portal of the Presidential Library, visitors can explore the ever-growing electronic collection Far East: A Point of Attraction, which provides information about the region's history and current affairs.

Throughout the 17th and 18th centuries, Russian explorers moved eastwards and explored Eastern Siberia and then the Pacific and American coasts. After the establishment of the Russian-Chinese border in the mid-19th century, the Far East became a major focus of Russian ocean power and international trade. By the early 20th century, its geography had been thoroughly studied, mineral deposits had been discovered, and modern ports had begun to be constructed.

Since the start of the 21st century, the Far East has been a region of rapid development and has attracted significant attention from entrepreneurs from Russia and neighboring countries. They are investing more capital in creating new high-tech businesses in the Far East.

The collection Far East: A Point of Attraction includes more than 1,500 items, including archival materials, travel studies, photographs, maps, and documents. It has sections such as Eastern Economic Forum, Port City Vladivostok, Far Eastern Federal District, History of the Far East, Economics, International Relations, and Science, Education and Culture.

Thanks to the Presidential Library's portal, the electronic version of the collection Far East: Point of Attraction is accessible to users anywhere in the world.
