Presidential Library and Central Scientific Library of Far Eastern Branch of Russian Academy of Sciences signed cooperation agreement

On September 3, 2024, in Vladivostok, as part of the IX Eastern Economic Forum, held from September 3 to 6, a cooperation agreement was signed between the Presidential Library of the Administrative Directorate of the President of the Russian Federation and the Central Scientific Library of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The document was signed by Yuri Nosov, Director General of the Presidential Library, and Tatyana Khmel, acting Director of the Central Scientific Library.

This agreement aims to establish partnerships for the promotion of national and international culture, science, education, and the preservation and promotion of Russia's historical and cultural heritage. It also aims to contribute to the spiritual and moral development of Russian citizens, particularly young people.

Acting Director of the Central Scientific Library of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Tatyana Khmel, emphasized that cooperation with the Presidential Library was an important step towards the development of their own library. She stated that this collaboration would provide an additional impetus for the digital transformation of their library and would positively affect the information support for scientific research in the Far East.

At the same time, this partnership would facilitate the exchange of knowledge and best practices in working with archival materials and library collections, allowing both organizations to benefit from each other's expertise.

The Presidential Library's collection includes electronic books, periodicals, news reels, photographs, science and education films, abstracts of dissertations, archival documents, and materials on the history of Russian statehood, the theory and practice of law, and the use of Russian as the official language of the Russian Federation. The electronic collections contain more than one million drepository items.
